Savos Training Associates (STA) draws on the unique experiences and skills of former senior Central Intelligence Agency officers to improve our customers’ leadership and communication skills.
We offer a comprehensive and customizable Leadership and Management Development Program for current managers and a companion program for non-managers to build their leadership skills too. We also help senior leaders clarify and implement their strategic visions by strengthening communication and trust across their management teams.
STA also teaches the CIA writing style to develop clearer, more concise communicators. We champion the use of direct sentences and a strong bottom line up front to meet the demands of busy readers. Finally, we offer a unique formula for oral presentations that blends elements of the CIA writing style with emotional intelligence skills and findings from psychological research on how to best inform and persuade others.
Every time we hear we have helped our customers develop is a success story for us. For example, when our primary customer kicks off our monthly combined writing and presentation workshop for his employees, he tells them he sees a clear improvement in graduates’ performances thanks to what he calls our “world class” instruction. Equally important are instances where students say we have changed their outlook on leadership or communication. We also love the frequent comments that our courses are actually fun.
Thanks to such satisfaction we have never had to do any marketing. All our work has come from word of mouth, such as when previous students change jobs and recommend STA to their new boss—another success story whenever it happens.
STA has been based in Northern Virginia for the last seven years and is just beginning operations in Boston, so we are not involved in the local community yet. Our fresh start in Massachusetts is challenging, as the network that opened doors for us in the DC area does not extend to Boston. Our plan is to build our new network by teaming with organizations like the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce to help local professionals and businesses.
Our CIA backgrounds mixed with extensive private-sector experience gives us a unique approach to teaching leadership and professional communication. We also practice what we preach by making our class presentations as captivating as they are informative. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that we also have really cool stories to share.
